ALEXANDRIA, Ky. -- Two people were killed in a crash on the AA Highway near Alexandria Tuesday afternoon, according to Campbell County police.

A 1998 Toyota Corolla was driving southbound at about 4:41 p.m. when it crossed the center median and struck a 2016 Chevrolet Suburban, police said in a news release.

The male driver of the Corolla and a female passenger in the front seat were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police identified them as Tyler Stamper, 27 and Carrie Friesland, 48, both from California, Kentucky.

Another female passenger who was riding in the back seat of the Corolla was driven to University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Police didn't have an update on her condition.

The driver of the Suburban was driven to Christ Hospital for an evaluation. 

The Campbell County Major Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the collision.
