DAYTON, Ky. — A large tree fell on three houses in Dayton, Kentucky, due to strong winds Sunday, heavily damaging two homes and sending two people to the hospital with minor injuries.
The 30-foot-tall tree, with a diameter of 6-8 feet, fell on the three homes along the 1200 block of Fourth Street, according to the Bellevue-Dayton Fire Department.
A man and a woman inside one of the homes when the tree fell were transported to area hospitals with minor injuries. Two other people, also inside a home struck by the falling tree, were uninjured.
Two of the houses sustained heavy roof damage and have been condemned. The third house had minor damage to its gutters, according to the fire department.
Strong winds downed power lines and trees across the Tri-State from Sunday morning through the afternoon, causing roads to close, barges to drift away and 30,000 people to lose power at one point.
