WEST CHESTER TOWNSHIP, Ohio — West Chester police are investigating an incident in which an individual impersonated a police officer and initiated a traffic stop on Union Centre Boulevard near Princeton-Glendale Road.

In a news release, a township spokesperson said the suspect was driving an SUV when he caused another driver to pull over and stop.

The victim called 911 after the incident early Wednesday morning, telling police the man hit her "multiple times" and attempted to rape her in her vehicle. According to a police incident report, the victim had been assaulted but had "no visible injury."

The suspect was described as a white male, approximately 30 years old, "wearing all black, a short-sleeved shirt with no badge or identifying patches, and a blue mask."

"The case is being thoroughly investigated by West Chester Police and additional information will be provided when we are able to do so," said a township spokeswoman on Thursday.

City officials advised any drivers in the area who are unsure about a vehicle attempting to pull them over to dial 9-1-1 and confirm the traffic stop.
