WEST CHESTER TWP. -- A non-traditional sport made popular in Canada is hurtling into Butler County, the Journal-News reported.

Cincinnati Axe Throwing opens at 8 p.m. June 16 at 4814 Peter Place in West Chester Twp., just off Ohio 747 and south of Muhlhauser Road.

Participants may play solo or with a group and learn how to throw from an expert.

Sessions start with each guest choosing their own lumberjack name. After an “axepert” provides an introductory safety lesson, guests aim an axe toward a bullseye in three rounds of competitive games in a quest for the title of Lumber Lord.

An axe-throwing session of between 90 minutes and two-and-a-half hours costs $28, plus a $2.68 processing fee. Besides leagues, the sport also is marketed as an option for date night, corporate team building and birthday and bachelorette parties.

In addition to axe throwing, the facility also offers four escape rooms.

Axe Throwing LLC also has locations in Columbus and Cleveland, as well as Dallas, Texas.
