MORGAN TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- A Butler County fire chief is taking a break from fighting local fires to assist with the wildfires in Oregon.
Morgan Township Fire Department Chief Jeff Galloway was deployed to assist the U.S. Forest Service in response to the Klondike and Taylor Creek fires, according to a post on the fire department’s Facebook page.
Galloway will act as a liaison officer to help coordinate the response.
Along with photos, the fire department posted, “Stay safe Chief!” It’s unclear how long Galloway will be assisting with the response.
In mid-July, lightning sparked more than 150 fires in Oregon during thunderstorms, according to NASA. At least one person died in northern Oregon.
