MIDDLETOWN, Ohio — A May trial date has been set for a man charged with a Middletown teen's December shooting death, the Journal-News reports.

Police arrested and charged 21-year-old Mezahn Demarco Amison on Dec. 7 in connection with the shooting death of Zachary Wallace on the streets of Middletown, police said.

Amison remains in Butler County Jail on a $1 million bond set by Judge Jennifer McElfresh. The judge set his trial for May 1.

The shooting took place on Manchester Avenue on Dec. 6, according to police. The victim attempted to run one block over to Casper Avenue, where officers found him while responding to the scene.

Middletown Police said Wallace, 16, died of multiple gunshot wounds after being transported to Atrium Hospital.

Police later arrested Amison in Trenton and charged him with Wallace's murder. Police also arrested a 16-year-old who was with Amison and charged him with obstructing official business.
