MIDDLETOWN, Ohio – A 66-year-old bicyclist was killed when he ran a stop sign and was hit by a car in a Middletown intersection Saturday afternoon, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The bicyclist was identified as Paul G. Klein of Middletown, according to a news release.
The crash occurred at Sunset Street and Fisher Avenue about 2:20 p.m.
Klein was riding east on Fisher when he was hit by a Jeep Cherokee traveling southbound on Sunset, according to the news release
Middletown Police and EMS pronounced Klein dead at the scene.
The driver of the Jeep Cherokee was not injured.
Klein was wearing protective equipment, the Highway Patrol said.
Alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be factors in the crash, according to the release. Troopers continue to investigate.
