3 arrested in shooting death of Middletown man

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Police arrested three people in connection to the shooting death of 48-year-old Benny Barefield last month.

Police arrested Quanterius Keith, 21; Dwight Bailey III, 21; and a 17-year-old. Authorities have also issued a warrant for the arrest of 21-year-old Daniel Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald was last known to live at 4119 Vannest Avenue.

The suspects are accused of shooting Barefield as he sat in his car on Dec. 14. Barefield was outside his house on 9th Avenue when he was shot. He drove about a block and stopped.

Keith stands charged with aggravated murder, tampering with evidence, having weapons under disability, participating in a criminal gang and parole violation. Bailey faces charges of complicity to aggravated murder, and the 17-year-old suspect is charged with complicity to aggravated murder and participating in a criminal gang.

A judge on Wednesday issued a $2 million bond for Keith.
