NEW MIAMI, Ohio — A Hamilton man has been arrested and charged in connection with a crash that badly hurt a New Miami firefighter.
The New Miami Fire Department said firefighter Dustin "Dusty" Cook was involved in a head-on crash in August 2020. As a result of the crash, Cook underwent surgery to remove his spleen and fix his broken legs, and he was briefly placed on a ventilator.
Cook was released from Fort Hamilton Hospital in September.
Brian D. Cast, 27, was arrested and charged Thursday night with two counts of aggravated vehicular assault and two counts of improper handling of a firearm in a vehicle, according to Butler County Sgt. Kim Peters.
Judge Keith Spaeth set Cast's bond at $50,000 Friday, and Cast is due again in Butler County court on March 25.
