HAMILTON, Ohio -- The Butler County coroner has identified the human remains discovered in New Miami this week.

The remains were those of 35-year-old David Eversole of Hamilton, coroner Dr. Lisa Mannix announced Thursday. Mannix was able to confirm Eversole's identity through dental records.

A missing person report from last year indicated that Eversole was last seen April 14, 2016.

His sister, Natasha Bach, described Eversole as a caring, protective soul with a good sense of humor.

"I wish I would have been out there more (looking for him), but I wasn’t," she said tearfully.

The cause and manner of Eversole's death were still both pending investigation by Mannix and the Butler County Sheriff's Office. Mannix explained Thursday that such information can be very difficult to gather in cases of skeletal remains; as a body decays, investigators have less evidence to work with.

She added, however, that she did not suspect foul play.

A couple hiking through the woods near Seven Mile Creek along Sipps Lane discovered the skeleton Tuesday afternoon.
