ST. CLAIR TOWNSHIP — Two people were transported to a trauma center and three others have been released from the hospital following an explosion at ammunition manufacturer in Butler County.
The Ohio State Fire Marshal's Fire and Explosion Investigation Bureau announced it is actively investigating the cause of the fire, according to spokesperson Brian Bohnert on Tuesday.
A stray spark came into contact with gunpowder at Midwest Ammunition around 3:30 Monday afternoon, according to Butler County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Kim Peters on Monday.
The St. Clair Township Fire Department responded to the fire on Monday, which had been contained with the help of an installed fire protection system and fire extinguishers used by employees, Bohnert said.
