FAIRFIELD, Ohio — Police shot a man to death Friday afternoon while responding to a call at the Timber Hollow Apartments near Dixie Highway.
According to police, a woman had contacted the department late Friday morning and asked officers to be on standby at the complex for her protection.
A man arrived at the scene just before noon, attempting to see the woman, and began to argue with police. He threatened officers with a gun, according to Fairfield public information officer Doug Day.
The confrontation ended with the man's death. The Fairfield Police Department did not immediately publicize his identity.
The three officers involved were placed on administrative leave, where they will remain until the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation completes its examination of the shooting.
