FAIRFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- Police found a homeowner bleeding and tied up in his garage when they responded to reports of a burglary early Monday morning, Chief Robert Chabali said.

Arthur C. Morris Jr., 37, of Cleveland, Ohio is accused of breaking into a home on Beaty Lane, hitting the homeowner with a blunt object, dragging him into the garage and tying him up, Chabali said.

A woman who lives at the home woke up when she heard her father, the homeowner, arguing with a man at about 4:16 a.m. She left the house and called 911.

Arthur C. Morris Jr., 37, is charged with aggravated burglary, kidnapping, felonious assault and possession of drugs.

Police saw Morris try to leave the house through a back door, and they took him into custody.

First responders transported the homeowner to a local hospital. He is expected to be OK.

Neighbor Phil Pryse said he’s recently retired and he keeps an eye on his neighbors, especially the elderly people and younger families.

Pryse said the suspected burglary is making him consider a home security system.

“I went to the store this morning to look at home security stuff, but I think I’ll wait until tomorrow to have someone come out and give me an estimate because I can’t have this,” Pryse said. “I just can’t have this.”

Authorities booked Morris into the Butler County Jail at 5:25 a.m. Monday. He is charged with aggravated burglary, kidnapping, felonious assault and possession of drugs.

Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 513-352-3040.
