HAMILTON, Ohio — The Butler County Sheriff's Office is searching for the owner of an emaciated dog they found at Millikin Woods Park in Hamilton. Sheriff Richard Jones said the dog's condition was so severe, she had to be euthanized.
A press release from the Sheriff's Office said the female pit bull/boxer mix was severely emaciated with an abscess on her tail.
"This is one of the most severe canine cases of neglect that we have seen in this county, and the Butler County Sheriff's Office will continue the fight against such neglect and seek justice for this beautiful animal," said Sheriff Jones in a press release.
A microchip was located on the dog, and officials said dog wardens are waiting to hear back from a veterinarian for any leads on the identity of an owner.
In the meantime, police are asking that if anyone recognizes this dog and knows who may be the owner, contact dog warden Jamie Hearlihy at 513.887.7297.
