BETHEL, Ohio -- Three people, including a 10-year-old, died in a single-vehicle crash on Bethel New Hope Road Wednesday night, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
State troopers said the vehicle veered off the road and struck a tree. Alcohol might have contributed to the crash, they added. Only the child was wearing a seatbelt.
In a news release, troopers identified the victims as 83-year-old Robert Moler, 33-year-old driver Nicholas Moler and 10-year-old Cameron Moler.
Sgt. Shannon Utter said tragedies like this remind him of his own family.
“The first thing that goes through my mind is, ‘Look what this family has to go through,’” Utter said. “No one wants to go through that.”
Utter said drivers should expect to see more law enforcement officials on the roads in light of the start of the holiday season.
“Don’t drink and drive, it’s just not worth it anymore as you can see in an incident like this," Utter said.
