BROWN COUNTY — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal hit-skip crash in Brown County that left one woman dead early Sunday morning.
According to OSHP, the Georgetown Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to reports of a woman lying in the median on State Route 32 near Schweighart Road in Brown County around 6:30 a.m. Troopers arrived on scene and discovered the woman had been struck and killed by a motor vehicle.
She was later identified as 45-year-old Alivia J. Shumate from Sardinia, Ohio.
OSHP concluded Shumate had been struck by an unknown vehicle. No witnesses have been identified at this time.
