STERLING TWP., Ohio — Officers pursued a damaged car marked with an unidentified red substance through Brown County Wednesday afternoon. The 100 mph chase ended at an Edgington Road home, where they found the car but not its driver.

Brown County sheriff's deputies converged on the property. Deputies opened a barn door and discovered the white vehicle parked inside with a red substance smeared on its badly damaged hood.

Officials have not confirmed whether the substance is blood.

Deputies on the scene said they believed the car hit something, but weren't sure what. They haven't ruled out the possibility that the car hit a deer, nor have they determined why the driver fled from police when they attempted to initiate a traffic stop.

One person was taken into custody for questioning. Police towed the vehicle from the property, according to authorities.

Anyone with information about the identity of the driver or their location should contact the Brown County Sheriff's Office at 937-378-4435.
