SARDINIA, Ohio — A man is dead after a crash with a dump truck on SR-32 in Brown County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol..

OSHP said the crash happened around 9 a.m. Tuesday morning on SR-32, where the road intersects with Five-Points Mowrystown Road near Eagle Township.

According to OSHP, 90-year-old Vaughn Purdy, of Sardinia, was driving a 2001 Chevy Silverado east on SR-32. He attempted to turn left onto Five-Points Mowrystown Road as the driver of a dump truck was traveling west on SR-32.

OSHP said Purdy turned in front of the dump truck and was hit in the intersection.

Purdy was pronounced dead at the scene by the Brown County Coroner's Office, OSHP said. The driver of the dump truck was not hurt in the crash.

According to OSHP, Purdy also was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

SR-32 was shut down in both directions, but all lanes have since reopened.
