PETERSBURG, Ky. — Two men found dead in Boone County over the weekend likely died from hypothermia, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

A family member discovered the bodies of Obie Fugate, 72, and Roy Fugate, 67, outside their Garrison Creek Road home Saturday. Neighbors say the two were brothers who lived together.

According to the Boone County Sheriff, the brothers' truck was found stuck in mud down a gravel driveway more than a half-mile from their house. The family member found Obie Fugate deceased in the mile-long driveway closer to the home. Roy Fugate was found dead on the front porch.

Deputies found two receipts dated for Jan. 29 at the scene. It's believed that Jan. 29 was the last time family members were in contact with the brothers, according to the release.

Dispatch officials said the relative called 911 after finding the two close to 11:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

The medical examiner is awaiting toxicology results before issuing a final report.
