UNION, Ky. (LEX 18) — The Boone County man who pleaded guilty by reason of insanity to murdering his family and holding classmates hostage nearly 25 years ago, has been denied parole.
After a hearing last week before two members of the board, Clay Shrout’s case went to the full parole board for review, according to WLEX.
Shrout admits shooting and killing his family inside of their home in Florence back in May of 1994. Then he went to Ryle High School and held a class hostage.
As a part of a plea deal, Shrout was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.
Shrout will not be back up for parole for 10 years.
