BURLINGTON, Ky. — Boone County Judge-Executive Gary Moore has appointed a new county clerk following the death of longtime clerk Kenny Brown earlier this month.
Justin Crigler, of Hebron, who was most recently the county tax administrator, will now serve as county clerk, officials announced Tuesday. He has also worked as a title examiner and as a director of acquisitions and tax lien purchasing.
"With Justin's deep understanding and vast experience of the clerk's office, Boone County will be served well with him as county clerk," Moore said in a written statement. "After speaking with many qualified individuals and the county clerk staff, I knew Justin was the right decision."
The term lasts through Jan. 9, 2023, but Crigler will have to win the seat in a special election if he wants to serve the full term. The election will be held in conjunction with the Nov. 5 General Election, officials said. Crigler will be on the ballot.
