FLORENCE, Ky. — Boone County detectives arrested a Florence man accused of sodomizing a 14-year-old "multiple times over the past couple of years," according to a sheriff's office statement Wednesday.
Police arrested 38-year-old Bobby J. Cortez Tuesday and charged him with 10 counts of first degree sodomy.
Police said Cortez is alleged to have sodomized the teenager approximately 10 to 15 times while residing in Kentucky.
“Cortez was interviewed and stated that he had been on drugs and could not recall the abuse but went on to say that if the victim had reported the allegations then he would take full responsibility and wanted to apologize for being a ‘monster,’” read a Sheriff’s Office statement Wednesday.
When police arrested Cortez Tuesday, they found he had violated conditions of release from a previous and unrelated charge.
Cortez is currently being held at the Boone County Detention Center on a $102,500 bond for all 10 counts and an additional charge of violating the conditions of his release.
Each sodomy count is a class B felony and punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
