FLORENCE, Ky. — A former student brandished a gun on Boone County High School's campus Wednesday afternoon, the Florence Police Department said.
Police said a male walked into the school's parking lot around 2:50 p.m. and displayed a handgun.
After he pulled out the gun, the suspect then got into a silver Nissan Altima. Police arrived, spotted the vehicle driving through the parking lot and then pursued it onto KY-18. The suspect then fled the scene and was involved in a three-vehicle high-speed crash at KY-18 and Ewing Boulevard.
At the scene of the crash, police said they took the suspect into custody and the handgun was found on him. He is facing nine different charges, including unlawful possession of a weapon on school property.
The district said no students were present when the gun was pulled out.
Police also said that there were no threats made toward the school or any individuals, and that it appears to be a "isolated incident."
They were transported to the Campbell County Juvenile Detention Center then to the Fayette County Juvenile Detention Center.
