CINCINNATI — Cincinnati Police responded to a fatal single-vehicle crash Sunday around 6:15 p.m. in the 4400 block of Colerain Avenue.
According to investigators, Jordan Akel was traveling southbound when he lost control and struck a utility pole. Akel suffered serious injuries and was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center where he later died.
Three other people in the vehicle were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Colerain Avenue was shut down southbound between Leeper Street and northbound from West Fork Road for hours Sunday evening while the Cincinnati Police traffic unit investigated.
Excessive speed does appear to be a factor in the crash, investigators said in a press release. Impairment as a factor is yet to be determined.
None of the people in the vehicle were wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
