In a new WCPO Insider video series, award-winning photojournalist Glenn Hartong documents interesting and unique faces, spaces and places in an around Greater Cincinnati.

The occasional series, called Seeing Cincinnati, will let users experience different parts and people of our city in new, unique ways.

Today's video features one of the most anticipated -- and dreaded -- days at the Cincinnati Fire Academy: the ladder confidence test.

Cadets must climb 100 feet, eight stories, to the top of a nearly vertical ladder truck's aerial ladder, clip in, let go, and lean back with their arms outstretched.

For the recruits, it's a test of their confidence in their equipment, their instructors and themselves.
