CINCINNATI — Community activist Kelli Prather announced Thursday that she will run for mayor of Cincinnati in 2021.
Prather, a Madisonville resident and Withrow High School graduate, has previously been a candidate for Cincinnati City Council, the Hamilton County Board of Commissioners, Ohio Auditor of State and the U.S. Senate representing Ohio.
An occupational therapist, Prather is also a breast cancer survivor currently working toward a Ph.D. in public policy. According to her announcement Thursday, Prather is also a domestic violence and gun violence survivor.
"Health care, public safety (addressing gun violence) and affordable (income-based) housing will be several of Ms. Prather’s top priorities. The citizens in Cincinnati deserve honest diligent representation," her campaign announcement read.
In the race, she'll face City Council members P.G. Sittenfeld and David Mann in 2021. Current Mayor John Cranley is term-limited.
