CINCINNATI — The University of Cincinnati on Thursday afternoon announced plans for students to return to campus for the 2020-21 fall semester, outlining a blend of in-person and virtual classes.

The fall semester begins Aug. 24 and UC officials said they are committed to providing their students with the best experience possible under current health and safety standards.

The announcement, shared by UC President Neville Pinto and Provost Kristi Nelson, reiterated a commitment to health and safety protocols including:

  • Facial coverings
  • Physical distancing
  • Proper handwashing
  • Frequent cleaning of facilities
  • Reduced density of people in certain spaces
  • Required reporting of symptoms

Information regarding COVID-19 testing and tracing will be released in coming weeks.

UC officials also announced changes to the academic calendar and will plan to have all in-person classroom activities be completed by the Thanksgiving break.

They said the final phase of their plan, which includes information on the safe return of students to campus, will be shared in early July.
