CINCINNATI -- Cincinnati Public Schools launched a new program Wednesday with Teach Children To Save Day, where CPS students in grade seven and eight spent time learning and talking about saving money, earning interest, bank accounts with the hope of increasing financial literacy.
More than 300 volunteers from area banks went to Taft Information Technology High School on Wednesday afternoon to meet with some 4,000 CPS students and talk about money.
Chase, Citi, the Federal Reserve, Fifth Third, First National, Huntington, KeyBank, Park National, PNC, Republic and US Bank all helped run the event, and Tim Elsbrock, Senior Vice President and Market President at Fifth Third Bank, United Way of Greater Cincinnati President Rob Reifsnyder, and Jeni Pastier, Senior Manager of Financial Education of the American Bankers Association, also participated in the event.
The program was developed by the American Banker's Association and is used nationally.
