COLERAIN TOWNSHIP,  Ohio -- Police said they were in the right place at the right time to help two men who were found attacked along Colerain Avenue Saturday night.

One man was stabbed and the other was shot, according Colerain Police Department spokesman James Love.

A sergeant was sitting in the Joseph Chevrolet parking lot, 8685 Colerain Ave., when a man came up about 8:20 p.m. and said he had been stabbed, Love said. The officer began to treat the wounded man only to notice a commotion down the street near Jeff Wyler Nissan.

The sergeant investigated and found another man lying in the middle of the street with a gunshot wound.

While the sergeant was caring for the shooting victim, the stabbing victim ran to the Golden Corral.

Love said drugs were involved but he doesn’t think the attacks were gang-related.

“Gang activity here is nominal, minimal. You really don’t have it,” Love said. “You have more people who come in just like anywhere else in Cincinnati. They don’t even live here. They’re vendors. They’ll come in, find some sales.

“I don’t know what it is yet, but it could be any of those situations. Could be a couple guys mad at each other."

Police said they don’t know if the wounded men attacked each other or someone else attacked them.

Both men were conscious while being transported to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, police said.
