FAIRFIELD, Ohio — Police arrested a substitute teacher Tuesday after a school resource officer received complaints that the man was seen masturbating in a classroom while students were present.
Tracey J. Abraham, 41, is charged with public indecency, according to Fairfield police.
The school officer immediately removed Abraham from the classroom at Creekside Middle School after receiving the complaints from students and a staff member at about 10:30 a.m., police said.
Fairfield City Schools officials said they don't believe he had physical contact with students. Also, school officials said they don't believe any students were exposed to nudity; the "suspicious behavior" was taking place behind the teacher's desk.
"We want to assure you that this individual will not be returning to our schools," the district said in a written statement. "The school district will be reporting this incident to the Ohio Department of Education."
Abraham was released on his own recognizance and ordered to stay away from all locations where there are children, according to court records.
