COVINGTON, Ky. — The footage, recorded by the security camera of David Dees, shows the moments leading up to the attack of a Covington 9-year-old by three men.
A tree partially obscures the scene, but the footage clearly shows a man raising a large machete and brandishing it in a threatening manner.
Esteban Portuges, 36, is currently being held in the Kenton County Detention Center facing second-degree assault charges and is being detained on an immigration charge.
The 9-year-old was struck in the back, causing a wound 3-inches deep and 2-inches long. The child was transported to Children's Hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
