Police arrest 2 suspects in Mt. Washington shooting

CINCINNATI -- Police arrested two suspects in connection with an attempted robbery and shooting early Tuesday morning. 

The suspects, 20-year-old Jason Newell and a 17-year-old boy, are accused of shooting a man in the stomach and wrist early Tuesday morning after the man refused to give up his wallet, according to Capt. David Fink. 

The man, who is in his 60s, was walking near the 6100 block of Plymouth Avenue at 12:40 a.m. when two suspects approached him, demanded his wallet and shot him in the stomach, Fink said. 

First responders transported the man to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. He is in serious condition. 

Newell stands charged with felonious assault, aggravated robbery, carrying a concealed weapon and having a weapon under disability. The 17-year-old is charged with felonious assault and aggravated robbery.

Witnesses heard three shots, but police only found one casing.
