MOUNT HEALTHY, Ohio -- A man wanted in connection with a kidnapping and rape last month had been living on the streets to elude capture, according to Mount Healthy police.

Adrian Deon Hutcherson Jr., 20, was arrested early Monday in Colerain Township. He'd broken into a car and was asleep and intoxicated, Mount Healthy Police Chief Vince Demasi said.

According to an affidavit filed by police, Hutcherson broke into the woman's home May 20. Police said he threw a rock through the victim's front window and got in through the front door.

Hutcherson threatened to kill the victim with a pair of scissors, strangled her to get her in the basement and then sexually assaulted her for hours, police said.

Afterward, Hutcherson forced her to shower and washed the blanket he'd raped her on, police said.

She escaped while he was distracted and ran outside, screaming for help wearing only a towel. Police said Hutcherson ran off when neighbors came to help the woman.

Demasi said police identified Hutcherson as a suspect based on the evidence and crime scene analysis. They signed warrants for him last week.

Hutcherson is charged with aggravated burglary, rape and kidnapping. He's scheduled for a court hearing Tuesday morning.
