MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- A Middletown man charged with murdering his wife faces 18 years to life in prison, according to Middletown Municipal Court Judge Mark Wall.
Bond was set at $500,000 this morning for Gregory Orona Jr., 35, of Middletown, who allegedly shot and killed his wife, Cassie Sanders, 42, Saturday morning following an argument in their Middletown home on Wilbraham Road the previous night.
As the facts in the case were read, Orona shook his head in disbelief.
During the investigation, Orona told detectives he accidentally shot his wife with a 20-gauge shot gun, but detectives said the evidence was “not consistent” with his story.

During his court appearance this morning, Orona said he wanted to ask Wall a question, but the judge told him to ask his court-appointed attorney.
Then as Orona was led back into the holding cell, he cursed at the judge.
