CINCINNATI — A man who authorities said spent two days in an apartment with his girlfriend's dead body was found guilty this week of killing her.
A Hamilton County jury found 54-year-old Thomas Walker guilty of two counts of murder, two counts of felonious assault, gross abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence and having weapons while under disability, according to court records.
Prosecutors said Walker had a history of abusing his partners before he shot Necole Jones in the head in May 2016. After killing Jones, Walker left her body in their Avondale apartment for 48 hours, and at one point duct-taped his hand to hers, authorities said. He also threw away the bullet casing, and was not allowed to have a gun due to a prior drug trafficking conviction.
Walker eventually went to police to report the shooting, but he claimed that he awoke to see her with the gun and that the gun went off during a struggle, according to court records. Authorities didn't buy the story for long, charging him with murder just a few days later.
Sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 14.
