CINCINNATI -- A man suspected of trying to run over police officers last month is in jail, being held on more than $1 million bond.
Darris Devaughn, 28, faces four counts of felonious assault, two counts of drug trafficking, two counts of drug possession and one count of failing to comply with a police officer's orders.
The officers, with the Cincinnati Police Department's Violent Crimes Squad, initially were doing an investigation in Walnut Hills on April 25.
According to court records, they walked up to Devaughn as he was getting back into his car, so he dove inside and wouldn't get out.
He backed up onto a sidewalk and nearly hit four officers as he drove away, according to the court records.
The car had a dark window tint, so officers couldn't see inside to know if there was a threat. According to court records, they tried to break the window before Devaughn drove off, and the tool they were using flew inside his car.
Police found the car abandoned a few blocks away, but Devaughn wasn't taken into custody until Monday.
A judge set his bond at $1.2 million Tuesday morning.
