Teen fatally shot in Cincinnati's Evanston neighborhood was junior at Purcell Marian HS

CINCINNATI -- A teen shot to death Friday night attended Purcell Marian High School and was son of a Catholic school principal.

Gregory Thompson Jr., 17, was found dead inside a home in Evanston. Thompson, a junior,  was listed on the school's football roster last season.

A Facebook post on the Catholic Schools – Archdiocese of Cincinnati page asked for prayers for Thompson’s family, including his mother, principal of St. Joseph School.

Police officers were called to Wabash Avenue near Hewitt Avenue at about 6:45 p.m. Friday.

The Cincinnati Police Department's Homicide Unit is investigating.

According to crime data on the city's website, it is the first homicide in District Two so far this year.
