COVINGTON, Ky. -- A Kenton County jury is recommending a 45-year prison sentence for a Fort Mitchell man convicted of raping a 12-year-old girl.
Police believe Matthew Bucher, 30, raped, photographed and abused at least a dozen teens between Dayton, Ohio, and Louisville, they said last year.
A jury found Bucher guilty of second-degree rape, six counts of promoting a sexual performance of a minor under 16 and six counts of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor, the Kenton County Commonwealth's Attorney Office announced Thursday.
Investigators previously said Bucher met the girls on social media apps like Facebook, Kik and Meet-Me using various photos and the alias Matt C. Percin. He made the victims think they were dating and that he was much younger than he is.
In some cases, Bucher brought the victims to the apartment he shared with his mother, where he would sexually assault and photograph them. Police found more than 60,000 photos on Bucher's devices during the investigation.
The 12-year-old girl was the youngest victim and the first to come forward, police previously said.
Sentencing will be held after Bucher's four other trials for similar alleged crimes against other victims.
