CINCINNATI — After nearly a month, police have captured the prisoner who escaped FBI custody at Fountain Square.

Special Agent in Charge of the bureau’s Cincinnati office, Angela Byers, announced late Friday afternoon that authorities in Columbus, Ohio, apprehended the 31-year-old fugitive, Mekahale Lamb, around 1:45 p.m. that day.

The day before he escaped on May 19, a federal arrest warrant was issued for Lamb, charged with conspiracy and distribution of heroin.

More than 50 FBI agents and Cincinnati police officers searched Downtown and the surrounding areas in search of Lamb the day he escaped.

Surveillance footage caught Lamb fleeing across the square. Watch here:

The FBI Cincinnati Division’s SWAT team and members of Columbus' Safe Streets Task Force took Lamb into custody without incident, Byers said.
