CINCINNATI — Detectives are trying to track down several unidentified vehicles and their occupants in connection to a shooting that killed 19-year-old Brandon Phoenix on June 5.
Phoenix was waiting to catch a bus to go to work at Cincinnati Children’s when he was struck by a stray bullet at about 1:20 p.m., according to police. He was seated at the bus stop on Colerain Avenue near North Bend Road.
“Detectives do not believe Brandon was the intended target of the shooting,” police said in a news release Friday.
Detectives used video surveillance to identify vehicles in the area at the time of the shooting. Police said they’ve identified most vehicles spotted in the videos, and interviewed the drivers and passengers.
Three vehicles have not been identified:
- A 2017-2019 white Honda Civic 5-door hatchback EX or EX-L; traveling southbound on Colerain Avenue
- A 2001-2007 dark blue Dodge Grand Caravan; traveling northbound on Colerain Avenue
- A 1997-1999 green Oldsmobile Cutlass; traveling northbound on Colerain Avenue
Police said the people inside those vehicles may have information that could assist in their investigation.
Phoenix graduated from North College Hill High School. He would have turned 20 years old in August.
