LEBANON, Ohio — The jury heard a full day of critical testimony for the state against Brooke Skylar Richardson.
The day started with powerful opening statements from both the prosecution and the defense.
Each side used visual elements to amplify the impact of their presentation. And the jury paid attention, even taking some notes.
The state painted the defendant as a cold-blooded murderer who killed her baby so she could resume her perfect life.
But the defense didn’t hold back as it blamed the investigation as a rush to judgment with a coerced confession that the evidence doesn't support.
The state has called a handful of witnesses going chronologically in a timeline. But the defense is maximizing cross examination to score some points and the jury even gave them a couple of nods.
