COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- A man was arrested and charged with murder in his 2-year-old son's death earlier this week, according to Colerain Township police.

Gianfranco Marin, 27, was booked into the Hamilton County Justice Center on Friday afternoon.

Chief Mark Denney said officers were called to a home on Creekview Drive at about 2:22 a.m. Wednesday for a boy who wasn't breathing. Officers tried to help him until the Colerain Township Fire Department arrived. Medics took the boy to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

During interviews with Marin and the boy's mother, Marin confessed to causing the boy's death, Denney said.

Marin denies the allegations against him, his attorney said in court Saturday. Municipal Court Judge Fanon Rucker set his bond at $500,000.

The mother also was arrested: Samantha Sicker, 35, faces a charge of obstructing justice. She, too, was booked into the Hamilton County Justice Center.

Rucker set her bond at $5,000.
