Batavia man pleads guilty to creating child porn

CINCINNATI -- A Batavia man pleaded guilty in U.S. district court Tuesday to creating child pornography.

Richard Lee Devito, 34, admitted he pretended to be a 13-year-old and persuaded an 8-year-old girl to send him videos of her naked and acting sexually, the Justice Department announced.

U.S. Attorney Benjamin Glassman said Devito induced more than 25 minors to send him sexual or nude videos and photos over the internet. The victims were typically between the ages of 8 and 12.

Devito also possessed thousands of child pornography images and videos, authorities said. Several files included prepubescent children engaged in sexual acts with adults.

"As a parent, this kind of predatory behavior over the internet is frightening," Glassman said. "I commend the FBI for its investigation of the case, which led to today’s guilty plea."

Devito pleaded guilty to one count of production of child pornography. He's facing 15 to 30 years in prison and five years up to life on supervised release.
