FAIRFIELD, Ohio -- A West Elementary School staff member has tested positive for coronavirus/COVID-19, Fairfield City Schools officials announced Friday evening.

"There may have been students and staff members who could have had a possible exposure," read a note to West Elementary families on Friday.

Because of this, the district asks families and staff to watch for symptoms through March 27, including fever above 100.4 degrees, cough and difficulty breathing, as well as sore throat, headache and diarrhea, though those symptoms alone do not mean that the virus has been contracted.

It is unclear if this case is among previously reported cases in Butler County. WCPO has left messages with the Butler County General Health District for clarification.

As of Friday afternoon, there are 11 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Butler County.
