CINCINNATI — Two best friends started a new organization to make sure that dozens of families have a good holiday season this year.

Make a Kid Merry was started by Jordynn Jenkins and Skylar Beavers as a way to give back to children who might not otherwise receive gifts this holiday season. Their desire to brighten the holidays for others comes from their own childhood holidays.

"We both come from single-mother households, so we both had to be sponsored for Christmases before," Jenkins said. "We just wanted to be able to create a way to give back to our community."

Through their organization, people could either donate $50 to support a family or they could buy and donate gifts from a family's wishlist. According to Jenkins, people were generous this year and were able to give things like bikes and tablets.

"It's about just giving back to a cause that is bigger than you, and we're both really big believers in that," Beavers said.
