When Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine said food trucks could operate at rest stops to feed truckers, one local BBQ restaurant didn't see dollar signs, but they saw a way to help long-haul truck drivers.

Sweets & Meats BBQ set up their food truck at a rest stop, and owner Kristen Bailey decided to offer the men and women who drive across the country free meals.

Bailey said, without them, we wouldn't be getting the food and supplies we need and enjoy during these hard times.

"We need that product," Bailey said. "I had to go to six different stores just to get pork butts to be able to put on our smoker and put out pulled pork."

On the first day of operating the food truck and offering the free meals, Bailey said they served 52 truck drivers, and they aren't finished yet.

"These guys and gals are on the road, very long hours," she said. "They're away from their own families and they're making sure we get those products that we need day in and day out."

You can visit the Sweets & Meats BBQ website to order online or to find a food truck near you.
