PIERCE TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A generous donor from Amelia, who wishes to remain anonymous, wanted to thank the hard-working first responders in Pierce Township, so they gave them $1,000 in gift cards for pizza.
"It's very heartwarming," Pierce Twp. Fire Department's Chief Craig Wright said. "It's a challenging time for everybody, to realize that people have those difficulties and challenges and they still think enough to thank us and look out for us is absolutely wonderful."
The donor wanted to show their gratitude toward all the first responders in Pierce Twp., especially right now during the COVID-19 pandemic. To make sure all the responders got a slice, they worked with Donatos, who made sure there was enough pizza to go around.
"I'm very appreciative that people in our community and our residents think enough of our police officers and firefighters to make sure that they're taken care of," Wright said.
The donor said they don't want the attention on them, they wanted this to be about the first responders, and they hope their act of kindness will inspire others, too.
