WEST CHESTER, Ohio — Six West Chester Township firefighters have tested positive for coronavirus since Saturday, according to West Chester Public Information and Engagement Director Barb Wilson.
The cases were isolated at Fire Station 74 in the 8000 block of Beckett Rd. The station has since been disinfected and crews have been back working in the station since Sunday.
The firefighters who tested positive are currently in isolation, and their conditions are unknown at this time.
Wilson said all fire stations are sanitized daily and often-touched items are cleaned throughout the day.
The positive tests have not impacted the fire service to the West Chester community, she said.
"West Chester took precautions early on ensuring personnel were equipped with and wore full personal protection equipment when coming in contact with the public; and that patients treated by our personnel also wore masks," Wilson said in a statement. "Temperature checks are done every day and anyone displaying symptoms is directed to stay home."
