Spies have nothing on the Joint Banks Steering Committee.

The group, which plans the direction of The Banks and includes high-profile Cincinnatians such as former Cincinnati mayor Charlie Luken and Reds owner Bob Castellini, has kept its meetings out of the public eye.

A WCPO investigation last year attempted to shed light on the group, which has met sparingly over the past few years. WCPO reporter Amanda Seitz discovered the group once again met in secret Wednesday, with no notice given to the public.

You'd think with the trouble The Banks has had keeping restaurants open, and with millions of dollars tied up in development of the area, we'd have a little more information into what goes on in these meetings.

But what do we know? We're just the taxpayers.
