Beware of Mega Millions jackpot scammers

Posted
and last updated

The Mega Millions lottery is warning players about a new scam.

The bottom line: If you get a call or email saying you won the jackpot, it's a scam.

So far, the reported scammers have identified themselves as The United States National Lottery, The Mega Millions Mobile Lottery and The Mega Millions Corporation.

Most of these groups will ask you to send money to collect your winnings or ask for banking information for a direct deposit -- both things that the people behind the real Mega Millions would never do.

The only way to know you've won is to watch for the drawing; you can watch lottery drawings on WCPO - 9 On Your Side.
